Background of Lesson
This lesson helps students increase their ability to do research, while also exposing them to some of Utah's most awesome places.
Instructions of Lesson
For this lesson, like the last couple, I introduce the assignment to them then give them the time to work.
Before the lesson, assign each student a specific state/national park/monument from the list on the link above.
The assignment:
Students will create a PowerPoint presentation on their assigned topic
The Powerpoint can include anything that you want to address about the park/monument, but needs to answer these questions as a minimum.
Where is the park/monument? (Give coordinates and a nearby city)
When was it established?
Who established it? (this only applies to national parks)
How many people visit every year?
How many square miles is it? OR what is its elevation?
Has there been any controversy around the park/monument?
(if not, you don't need to include a slide about it)
What are 3 interesting facts about the park/monument that haven't already been mentioned?
Include 5 pictures of the park/monument throughout the slide show.
