Proposed Law

Students will be working on writing a law to fix a problem that they see within the state.
I find that it helps to have students complete tasks in a certain order:
Identify a problem you see around you, and think of possible solutions to that problem. If there isn't really a solution to fix the problem, try thinking of another problem.
Once you have a problem identified, and a possible solution thought of, think through your solution and make sure that it is accomplishing everything that you want to, without undesired side affects. (For example, if the problem you identify is garbage collecting on the side of highways, and your solution is to have teenagers clean it up for community service, there might be a side affect of teenagers getting hurt by passing vehicles).
Work on filling out a presentation about your law. Here is a template.
If time is available in class, have the students present their proposed laws.
